Rethinking Resolutions

JANUARY 1st IS THE DAY WE TRADITIONALLY RESERVE FOR RESOLUTIONS + GOAL-SETTING: NEW JOB.  NEW BODY.  NEW RELATIONSHIP. NEW LIFE.

WE’RE INSPIRED. EXCITED. MOTIVATED.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

UNFORTUNATELY RESOLUTIONS RARELY WORK AND BY VALENTINE’S DAY A WHOPPING 80% OF US HAVE SLID BACK INTO OLD HABITS AND PATTERNS OF BEHAVIOR, OUR RESOLUTIONS AND RESOLVE HAVE BECOME A THING OF THE PAST.

MANY THINGS CAN SET US OFF COURSE, BUT OFTEN IT’S BECAUSE WE SET LARGE, LOFTY GOALS WITHOUT CREATING AN ACTION PLAN TO REACH THEM.

WHETHER YOUR RESOLUTION IS TO RUN THE NYC MARATHON, LOSE 20 POUNDS, OR LAND YOUR DREAM JOB, SUCCESS LIES IN IDENTIFYING THE SMALLER, ACTIONABLE STEPS NEEDED TO GET YOU THERE.  

SMALLER, SPECIFIC GOALS PROVIDE A CLEAR ROAD MAP TO LARGER LIFE GOALS AND they AMPLIFY THE ODDS OF SUCCESS.

#THISISGROUNDED: REACH GOALS. SMALL STEPS LEAD TO BIG CHANGE. THINK small + big. CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT.

DIET redux

The word diet comes from the Greek root “diaita” — to live one’s life +  the Latin root “diaeta — a manner of living.  


Today, diet simply means food restriction.

Calorie counting. Work. Guilt. Stress.

Let’s bring back the original definition of the word diet — meaning LIFESTYLE + ask ourselves:

How do I want to live my life?

How do I want to feel each day?

Do you want to live with energy, vitality + vigor? Do you want a strong, lean body + skin that glows? If you do, then creating sustainable food + wellness habits that promote radiant health, joy + yes, even optimal weight, won’t seem so difficult.

Next time you mindlessly reach for a snack, think to yourself does this align with my vision of how I want to live my life?  If not, toss it out and reach for something that does!
